So it’s 2012 and I want to check in with you…

Did your business grow in 2011 when compared to 2012?

If not, that’s a problem. But it’s not a problem that can’t be resolved. The majority of struggling businesses we work with aren’t underachieving due to poor products or services, it isn’t due to competition in their market or because of a “down economy” either. It’s because they lack a clear vision of where they’re headed and equally as important, they’re missing a marketing plan that will get them there.

“Marketing Plan? Like an entire years worth of planning?” you say. If the task seems daunting, don’t stress. I recently attended a kick-butt webinar my friend Tyler Garnes from Infusionsoft put on, teaching businesses how to map out their 2012 marketing plan, absolutely free of charge. Some registrants were actually turned away the day of the webinar due to GoToWebinar’s 1000 seat limit. So Ty is delivering an encore. If you’ve been a little slow moving in preparing a realistic, achievable plan for huge success in 2012, I recommend you REGISTER FOR THIS WEBINAR ASAP.

You’ll leave with not only seasoned guidance on marketing efforts that drive more traffic, capture more leads and generate more sales, you’ll be given tools and files that will help you create your custom MAP (Marketing Automation Plan).

I literally just booked flight and hotel for the annual Continuity Summit (Thank you Travelocity).

In my opinion this event is one of THE top internet marketing events in the world. It’s so great that not only are we attending this year, we’ll also have a booth at the event. In fact, our good friend Ryan Lee (the “Continuity King” and host of the event) gave us three VIP Guest Passes so keep on reading to find out how we can hook you up with free attendance.

About the event…
The Continuity Summit is the FIRST and ONLY event focused entirely on helping you build recurring revenue online. You’ll get the latest breakthroughs in the world of membership sites, newsletters, micro-memberships, nano continuity, retention, traffic, marketing and so much more…

Check out the speaker line up
Ryan Lee (of course), Yanik Silver, Matt Bacak, Chris Farrell, Tim Schmidt, Pat Rigsby, Stu Mclaren (of Wishlist), Tim Kerber (of Membergate), and others. Literally every person speaking makes 6-7 figures with membership sites or has built software to deliver membership content. I can’t think of any better teachers to help a business struggling with their membership site or looking to create one (the right way, the first time).

We’ll be showcasing the many membership websites we’ve done for well-known marketers like Ryan, and plugging our good friends at CustomerHub who have built the best membership software that is seamlessly integrated with Infusionsoft.

At this point you’re probably wondering, “how can I get my hands on a free ticket?” Here’s the deal, we only have 3 of these to give away. Due to high demand (yes we’ve heard your pleas) we recently released a new service to develop mobile sites or “web apps” if you will. This service allows you to get the most out of each and every visitor to your site, specifically visitors coming form smart phones. Maven Mobile Sites creates the optimal browsing experience so visitors can consume your information from their hand held device, and take the desired call to action.

The first 3 people to purchase a mobile site from the time of this blog posting, will receive the Continuity Summit 3 admission ticket as a free gift from us to you. This is a real limit, we really do have 3 tickets only, so feel free to contact us prior to purchasing a mobile website to see if there is a ticket left for you.

So if you already made plans for the event, we look forward to seeing you there. Be sure to swing by our booth and say hello. If you end up being one of our guests, congratulations! You get a killer service at an introductory price and a free ticket to what will be one of the top marketing events of 2011.

All the best,

Jarrod

P.S. In case my anchor text tripped you up, here’s the link to Maven Mobile Sites: http://mavenmobilesites.com/

I have finally completed the “Conversion Tool Kit.” I haven’t even had a chance to create a video yet explaining what it is, but wanted to get it into the hands of our readers, clients and prospective clients as soon as possible. Cutting out any kind of fluff or sales positioning, here’s a simple description of what the Conversion Tool Kit is:

Out of the long list of split tests we’ve done, we’ve identified 7 super powerful tactics you can implement on your website to increase conversion, significantly that is. The audio is close to 30 minutes and the accompanying guide is 18 pages. So this is something you’ll want to dive into when you have a half hour to devote. Trust me, it will be well worth your time. This could easily be a $97 ClickBank product.

I’ve hosted the report at our other company’s website: Integrity Safe. It is super relevant to the services we provide there. Once you have an opportunity to study and implement the split tests we’re giving, I’d love to hear your comments on this blog.

Take care and enjoy your increased conversions!

Do you sell digital products like eBooks MP3′s or videos? If so, we recently developed an awesome Infusionsoft integration just for you.

As you probably already know, Infusionsoft has some pretty awesome functionality around delivering and protecting the above digital products.

What you may or may not know is that Infusionsoft has a 10 MB file size limit. Unfortunately most digital products are larger than 10 MB, rendering this feature almost useless for most of our clients.

So after a few late nights and some extra-large pizzas, we found a solution to serve up files larger than 10 MB. The best part is, the solution still uses the native feature within Infusionsoft.

We recently shot a video to show exactly how this works. If you’d like to see it, go to:

http://infusiondigitalproducts.com

Enjoy the video and let us know if you have any questions.

A little over 5 years ago, I had the pleasure of working with Micah Mitchell when he and Jordan Guernsey of MOLDINGBOX first started using Infusionsoft. At the time my roll at Infusionsoft was an “Implementation Manager,” so I was their go-to-guy for the first couple of months.

Right off of the bat I realized that Micah was anything but a newbie when it came to CRM software. He had previously implemented a handful of other solutions and seemed to learn the Infusionsoft system with ease. He became such an expert at the software that it wasn’t long before he started his own services business helping other Infusionsoft users.

Often times I’d receive requests from Infusionsoft users that needed a website, landing page or even custom work inside of their application. Since Infusionsoft has a strict policy against collusion, I was unable to assist them personally with these needs as an Infusionsoft employee – nor could I receive compensation for referring them to another provider.

Since I knew Micah had mad tech skills and understood the marketing side of things as well, I always felt confident in sending my clients his direction. Many of them reported back that they had a great experience with Micah and appreciated the reference.

Fast-Forward 4 years. My partner Dustin and I, having gained a wealth of knowledge and recognizing a huge opportunity in the marketplace, ventured out to actually implement everything we had learned. We left Infusionsoft and formed our own company: Marketing Mavens.

Not too long into building websites and pimped out Infusionsoft marketing funnels, we had a client ask us if we could help him turn WordPress into a membership portal that could grant access to hidden content for paying members.

We did our research and though there were a few solutions out there, we decided to go with what Micah (Infusion Alliance at that time) had developed for a few main reasons:

1) We knew Micah and the quality of work he produced
2) Our review showed that his functionality seemed to outshine the other solutions
3) He marketed the solution with an “unlimited domains” usage

We were really stoked at the idea of being able to offer this value-add to our existing website services for future clients. What we didn’t see anywhere on the site – but have recently found out from Micah himself, is that there was a provision on the licensing…it was for only 1 infusionsoft application.

That 3 word clause meant we weren’t legally/ethically/morally allowed to distribute the plugin – though we had done so, unaware of the above restriction. Fortunately, Micah contacted us directly and after email communication and talking over the phone, everything was smoothed out.

Words can’t express how much I appreciate his understanding and giving us the opportunity to share what really happened. I am grateful for his “big picture” view in resolving this misunderstanding.

Though there have been some harsh accusations hefted at our company on blogs and forums, I can completely understand the reasoning behind it. I haven’t had the opportunity to ever speak with Bob Keen personally, but I can tell that he is a very passionate entrepreneur – and I admire the loyalty he has towards his partner.

There is no doubt that being “passionate,” “loyal,” “competitive,” and “quick to action,” can make a small business ultra-successful. Moldingsoft possesses such traits.

We bear no hard feelings – and from what Micah tells me, nor does Moldingsoft. Now that this is behind us, there are opportunities being presented immediately to work together to help Infusionsoft users truly fulfill Infusionsoft’s purpose of “liberating and empowering entrepreneurs so they can enjoy doing business, wow their customers, and better serve their families and communities.”

Moving forward, we highly endorse InfusionWP as THE solution for creating Infusionsoft / WordPress membership sites. We’ll be working with Micah over the next few weeks to become expert service providers when it comes to InfusionWP configuration and integration.

I wanted to close by saying thanks to those of you who sent kind words and encouragement over the last few days. We have been very fortunate in building meaningful friendships with some pretty cool entrepreneurs. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to help you out.

Best,

Jarrod Morris

A valuable lesson about overcoming obstacles related to both buying and selling – you may be hitting these speed bumps right now and not even know it.

When we first started our business, we needed a way to collect payment from customers across the world. We were literally making sales on day 3 of our new venture. We hadn’t even formed a corporation yet. So the quick and obvious solution was PayPal. It seemed easy enough and would work just fine for our needs…at least that’s what we thought initially.

Over time we found that not only was the checkout process cumbersome for our clients, we ourselves didn’t want to go in and create a unique money request for each and every client. I won’t tell you how long we ran our sales like this. I’m turning red just writing about it.

Long story short, we finally got hooked up with a gentleman by the name of Paul Lonsford. I had sold Paul Infusionsoft years ago when I was still with the company. He really hooked us up. Here’s what you really need to know though:

Once we had our merchant account in place, it streamlined the way we processed credit cards. Here we were Infusionsoft Mavens and we weren’t using the shopping cart for what it was really designed for. We were losing out on all sorts of automation with PayPal.

We didn’t realize it, but we had been neglecting our sales efforts because of the difficulty in processing the actual transaction once a deal had been closed.

Here’s the really clincher – when we switched from routing sales through PayPal to our new merchant account, we almost doubled our revenue in the first month! It’s like there was some unknown barrier to our success processing sales the old way. Thank heavens for Merchant Processing 2.0.

If you are running your business with Infusionsoft, using only PayPal and not a merchant account, I’m calling you to repentance. Wink. Wink. You are going to face the exact same challenges we faced. Learn from our experience:

1) When you make it easier for a client to pay you, they are more likely to do so.
2) When you make it easier to close a deal, you are more likely to do so.
3) Storing credit cards on file for payment plans and subscriptions is priceless.
4) Having a cart skin/theme that is branded with your site curbs the shopping cart abandonment you get when throwing people over to PayPal to complete a transaction.

Since the time of our transition we have referred 12-15 clients asking for merchant recommendations over to Paul. We’re pleased to say that each and every one of them have come back with rave reviews of his unmatched pricing and customer service.

We recently partnered up with Paul to provide our clients as well as Infusionsoft Users a unique package to help them get up and running (and doubling sales) in no time. We really have put together the sweetest merchant account deal for internet credit card processing. Absolutely no one can beat this offer.

When the doctor says you need a “second opinion”, you get it, right? So why wouldn’t you do the same for your business?

Let me tell you a little about the The League of Extraordinary Minds…

Two of marketing’s top players, Jay Abraham and Rich Schefren just brought 53 of the business world’s finest expert minds together for a six-week long, brain trust experiment that’s unprecedented anywhere else in the business world.

Jay and Rich have purposely put this group of extraordinary business minds together and focused each expert’s content on ideas and advice that will quickly help any business out there that’s suffering from:

* Poor marketing * No distinction or preemptive advantage * Ineffective sales efforts * Poor marketing message * Lack of credibility, trust in marketplace * Limited capital to market.

The League of Extraordinary Minds brings together power-house panels of experts all specializing in one major business building skill. In each session, these different panels will talk about the most important profitability issues, challenges and questions your business is facing and they provide the most actionable answers, ideas and solution you’ve gotten from anyone, anywhere, ever before.

One panel consists of seven world famous marketers: Another has six celebrated mega-bestselling business authors. Another has internationally renowned legendary mastery in dealing with business competitors. Still, another is a legendary master icon in the field of persuasion and infamous prominent consulting giants who charge $250,000 a day to share their prized perspectives.

Hey, I even took the time to show you some of the extraordinary minds:

Why not see if Jay and Rich’s League of Extraordinary Minds six week experiment interview Brain can be just the solution you’re after? Remember, it’s totally yours, gratis, for the entire six week experiment/try-out period.

Jay and Rich can only accommodate a maximum of 1000 people on each one of the nine separate panel interview sessions they’re conducting. They’ve got over 150 other list owners, bloggers and major business publications all nominating and including people from their list to participate, too.

That means hundreds of thousands of people won’t get to hear any of those nine interviews, because they won’t get inside fast enough.

So, if you want to be one of the 1000 people who DO get to listen at no charge to all nine interview sessions over the next six weeks (for nothing), you need to register (no charge) right now.

Here is my cleverly disguised affiliate link: https://schefren.infusionsoft.com/go/loemo/autom8/ And yes, if you buy something from Rich or Jay in the future, I may receive a small commission for it.

P.S. You’d have to seek out additional products though because there’s no selling and no pitching whatsoever. It’s simply the most powerful business-building content you’ll ever hear, all focused on helping you and your business get back in the black.

After using 4 or 5 of the “top hosts” over the past couple of years, it has become blatantly obvious that one hosting company absolutely blows its competitors out of the water.

When speaking with other entrepreneurs and business owners there is one company that continues to pop up in most conversations…GoDaddy. I like to ask, “so why did you chose GoDaddy for your host? or Why are you going with GoDaddy?”

The response rarely has to do with features, thresholds or service. Actually, the response usually consists of three words, “I don’t know.” “Let me guess, you saw their Super Bowl commercial.” The common phrase, “sex sells,” has never been more apparent than in GoDaddy’s racy campaigns. The company is gaining popularity at a rapid rate (not necessarily on account of its product offering).

GoDaddy is definitely not the top web host for entrepreneurs. So who does Marketing Mavens recommend as the top web host? Hands down the award goes to BLUEHOST!

This post isn’t meant to be a moral slam against GoDaddy, so I’ll keep my opinion of GoDaddy’s Marketing & Advertising strategies to myself. BUT, a quick look at the raw thresholds will show you that what GoDaddy offers in the form of scandalous women, requires you to sacrifice in service.

That’s right. Those girls don’t come cheap. A decent portion of what you pay GoDaddy goes to ginormous advertising budgets as opposed to a better product and service.

BOTH: Unlimited external domains, subdomains, FrontPage, WordPress, Joomla, PHP, Python, Java, Ruby on Rails, and CGI.

BlueHost offers a live demo of their products prior to purchase.

GoDaddy also lets you test their products. Some benefits to GoDaddy is that they are an ICANN approved domain registrar, there are no long term contracts, and they offer discounts for 12, 24, or 36 months.

Here’s the biggest deciding factor for me though: in addition to a free domain for life and unlimited thresholds, BlueHost offers CPanel 11 (incredibly intuitive and user friendly) while GoDaddy offers their own heavily customized version of Plesk that is far more restrictive.

Take a look at how simplistic yet robust BlueHost’s CPanel is…

When making changes anywhere in BlueHost, updates are seen instantly. When making changes in GoDaddy, I would often wait hours for their systems to recognize the update. This just killed productivity.

There are even more arguments as to why BlueHost is the top host, but I need to get back to work – and so do you!

Best,

Jarrod Morris

While wrapping this up I want to be fair and open about other great hosts. Here are a few others worth mentioning: Host Gator, Lunar Pages, Host Monster, IX Web Hosting, Green Geeks, Just Host.
